CREATING A GALLERY WALL

Creating a gallery wall or placing a collection of your favorite photos and artwork can be so much fun!!!

I know it can be a scary thing when starting with a blank space!!! I like to first select the photos or artwork and then after selecting frames that match or work well together I will lay them out on the floor and play around with how I want to arrange them.

Measuring is definitely a good idea!!! You can also start in the middle and work your way out!

If you have a larger piece or maybe just a favorite...start with that!

Just have fun with it!!!

GET INSPIRED...

select artwork & photos...make sure that if they're framed they work well with each other. *use a mat if you can...you'll get a more finished look!

LAY IT OUT...

lay out your photos & artwork on the floor...you'll want to play around with the arrangement.

If you're having a hard time...try taking some pictures with your phone and then after trying a couple variations flip through & select the layout you prefer.

TIME TO HANG...

finally...you'll need a hammer, measuring tape, picture hangers/wire, level, pencil, *optional...

kraft/butcher paper & painters tape.

You may want to use kraft/butcher paper...

Using paper can make your job a lot easier!

To be sure that your composition looks good on the wall and that the height feels right, mock it up on the wall with paper. Trace each frame onto a piece of kraft, butcher or tissue paper, trim to size, and tape to the wall in your desired order. One perk of using paper mock-ups is they make nail placement easy. You can mark each paper with the spot where the frame's nail should be placed, and when the paper is on the wall, hammer it directly into the mark on the paper, tearing it away after. Then comes the best part...time to hang you your frames and artwork!

Good Luck!
